Quartets restaurant

Quartet's Restaurant is an elegant and unusual restaurant snuggled-away-but-in-full-view in the beautiful Suffolk town of Newmarket. We are situated at the Clock Tower end of the bustling High Street, within a sixty second walk of three very capacious car parks.

This means we are easy to find and to get to, but doesn't mean that once inside you feel anything other than transported to a better world. Once you are with us this feeling of tranquility and relaxation and of being elsewhere, far from the busyness and business of everyday affairs, engulfs you as you start to partake of the atmosphere. This is how we intend it to be.

You come to us to be relaxed, dined and pampered every day from midday until 2.00pm, and in the evening from 6.00pm until 10.00pm. We focus on creating beautiful food that is meant to be enjoyed by all. So although the dishes may appear simple that simplicity is a deception borne of a skilled and learned pair of hands.

Rather like a Gershwin number, the dishes, we hope, have the ability to draw you again and again and to last in your memory....Quartet's is food glorious mediterranean style food...

Lunch Menu

Obviously we realise that you want something a bit lighter and faster at lunch time and that is why we have a quicker set of dishes, however, if you would like something from our main menu please ask...

Trio of Fish £7.50

Fresh salmon, Halibut and Sardine served in a white wine and herb sauce. Served with a choice of vegetables or salad

Soup of the Day £4.25

Served with a roll and butter.

Omelettes £6.95

With a choice of fillings including cheese, tomato, mushroom, Parma ham served with a choice of vegetables or salad.

Breaded Scampi £6.95

Breaded scampi served with chunky chips, peas and tartar sauce.

The Proprietor

Hello, I'm Daniel Holman and I am the Proprietor and Head Chef of Quartet's Restaurant in Newmarket.I would like to tell you a little bit about my passion for food.

Food, for me, is not just something that is put on a plate and then finished with. I like to know what you think about it so I can make it even better. I suppose there is some intrinsic and inexplicable fascination with seeing good food created and then enjoyed by people like yourself. I hope this is not a form of madness -- I shall have to ask one of my friends for an honest answer! So, think of food here at Quartet's as a continuous experience of shared delights and insights.

I served my apprenticeship in the local area, and worked in one of the most popular restaurants, Il Piccolo Mondo, which is still remembered with affection by those who knew it well. Elio, Il Piccolo Mondo's proprietor, was a wonderful man for whom to work, and I learnt a great deal from him and hope that some of his kudos and know-how has rubbed off on Quartet's.
